This view of the popular Scottish coastal town of North Berwick is taken from the west beach. It is almost high tide and the beach is reduced to a thin strip from which the grassy dunes and stone wall rise up creating a boundary between the houses of the town and the beach. Towering behind the village is North Berwick Law.
I work from sketches that I have made, refining them by focussing on patterns in the landscape. I use a fine line pen to finish my drawings. My sketchbook accompanies me on my travels and I enjoy capturing the architecture and surroundings of different cities.
