Crabapple with Blackbird - Linocut Print

A blackbird perches in a tangle of Crabapple branches, apples providing bright bursts of colour against a pastel winter sky. Printed on Japanese paper, the print's flattened perspective and colour palette is inspired by Japanese woodblocks.

🎨 How I Made It: This is a reduction linoprint, and is made up of four layers. I started with a pale pink to yellow fade capturing a cool winter sky. I followed this with the bright coral pink apples. Next came the twisting branches and a darker chocolate brown for the blackbird. Each layer was printed on my Woodzilla printing press. This is a small edition of sixteen prints, so you'll be owning one of a select few pieces.
