Over the course of several weeks in my Scottish studio, I sketched out various designs for the print before tracing the design onto a piece of lino. I used my A5-sized printing press to build up the different colours on the Japanese printing paper, carving into the lino between each layer (once you've carved a layer, there's no turning back), before adding finishing touches by hand with leaf-shaped lino pieces, and then a paint brush.
